Sunsets at River Vista

One of the best kept secrets of Oregon is that the beach can be the best place to be in the winter time. You either get to watch the power of mother nature, with wind and rain, or you can enjoy mild winter temperatures when elsewhere in the State people are freezing.

Sunsets aren't to be missed either. These pictures were taken from the deck of River Vista condo, in November 2009. I always have a pair of shorts and a pair of capris with me when visiting the coast. Some days it's just too hot to wear jeans, while sitting on the deck with a good book, a drink, and the sun.

The Coast vs the Willamette Valley

This is what the weather in Seal Rock, about 40 miles north of Florence, looked like on December 24th, 2009. While back in the Willamette Valley, standard winter weather was happening....cold, gray, misty fog that never lifts all day. The next day will be more of the same. Sometimes we get stuck in those weather patterns for a couple of weeks! What a mental drag. Next time you've had enough of the fog, head to the Oregon coast, you never know what you will find there!
